Tooth Replacement

Missing teeth can be replaced with bridges, implants or even dentures. Bridges and implants can be used in combination with the latest soft tissue management techniques to make replacement teeth appear to emerge from the gums like natural teeth.

Bridges can either be supported by the surrounding teeth or by implants. Bridges are relatively quick and inexpensive when retained by natural teeth. The disadvantage is that the teeth that are used to support the bridge may need to be trimmed right down to make room for the bridge. Bridges have teeth that are linked together so you can’t floss between them like natural teeth, although you can still floss or clean underneath them with small brushes.

Implants are the modern way to replace missing teeth. An implant is placed in bone where the tooth root would have originally been. When it has fused to the bone it can be restored with individual crowns, or bridges or can be used to retain dentures. They are relatively more expensive and require time whilst they integrate with bone. However, they form a very solid platform to support further restoration and when it’s used to replace a single missing tooth, or multiple teeth with separate crowns, you will be able to floss between them like natural teeth.

Traditional full dentures are often loose and cover large areas such as the whole palate which interferes with speech,  taste and the enjoyment of food. We only provide implant supported dentures which clip firmly to supporting implants. These dentures are much smaller and do not cover the palate and they can be smile designed just like any other cosmetic or smile makeover case.
